Thistle
The artist Aubrey Beardsley, one of the most celebrated book and periodical illustrators of the Victorian era, created our stylized thistle image. He was born in Brighton England in 1872. Before the age of ten he had contracted tuberculosis which was the cause of this premature death at the age of twenty-five. Beardsley was heavily influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite painters and was a good friend of the author & playwright Oscar Wilde.
