Our full grain custom tanned domestic bullhide is drum dyed for a rich saturated color. It has a medium firm temper which will get soft and supple with use, while still keeping it's structured shape.
Small healed scars, bites and stretch marks may be visible and are evidence of the life of the cow. These perfect imperfections are part of what makes your leather piece unique and beautiful.
Please note, variations in lighting, photography, screen settings and dye lots do occur. These photos are representative only and may not exactly match what you will see in real life. Our handmade leather products are made right here in our studio workshop when you place your order.
Normal production time for a Leather Cover is 3-5 weekdays (more time may be needed for personalized orders or during the height of the holiday season).

United StatesI purchased the Chocolate Journal for use with my Hobonichi Cousin, and it is STUNNING. The website photos don't do it justice. The drum tanned leather has a lovely grain, and the burned in pattern is so well done. I love that the spine and back are also patterned; it feels so good in the hand. I'm thrilled with this beautifully crafted journal for writing and light sketching. The leather cover's design and colors are gorgeous. If you do mixed-media work, you might want to replace the blank book that is provided with a sketchbook for that purpose (that is, one with heavyweight paper). It's easy to swap out the books.

I have had one of your journals since 1994. It was a gift one that I have cherished. It ooses with quality, and beauty. I recently bought two more and was pleased to learn that the quality of you product is still of the best quality of any product I have. I plan to purchase another, one of the larger size as well as a messenger bag. Love these journals. Never change, please.
