  • Button and Leather thong closure, hand cast in our Oberon metal casting shop.
Journals - Large 6 x 9 inches or Small 5 x 6.875 inches
  • Book Insert included: blank, hardbound, unlined, made with recycled, heavy bond, acid free paper with a lined template sheet for straight lined writing. Simply place the template behind the page as you write. The bold lines show through just enough.
  • Book Insert size: Large 5.5 x 8.5 inches with 208 pages / Small 4.25 x 6.25 inches with 220 pages
  • Weight with book in cover:Large 1.6 lb / Small .80 lb.
  • Large Journal is a great fit for standard A5 size notebook fillers. (*A5 standard international paper size – 5.8 x 8.3 inches / 148 x 210 mm. *Dimensions vary slightly between "standard" A5 notebooks. A notebook that is similar to these dimensions will work, just make sure that the spine isn't too deep (7/8 inch or less).

  • Includes a built-in elastic strap place holder, hand cast Britannia pewter button and leather thong closure.

Large Notebook Covers vs Large Journals. What is the difference?

Our full grain custom tanned domestic bullhide is drum dyed for a rich saturated color. It has a medium firm temper which will get soft and supple with use, while still keeping it's structured shape.

Small healed scars, bites and stretch marks may be visible and are evidence of the life of the cow. These perfect imperfections are part of what makes your leather piece unique and beautiful.

Please note, variations in lighting, photography, screen settings and dye lots do occur. These photos are representative only and may not exactly match what you will see in real life. Please make your color choice with a generous spirit. - Curious or particular about colors? We recommend ordering a Leather Color Sample Swatch Set.

Our handmade leather products are made right here in our studio workshop when you place your order.
Normal production time for a Leather Cover is 3-5 weekdays (more time may be needed for personalized orders or during the height of the holiday season).

    Just what I was looking for

    I bought this journal for our son's birthday. He had the look on his face I was going to see. The quality and look that really suits him, and I can honestly say he has excellent taste.     Stunning!

    I purchased the Chocolate Journal for use with my Hobonichi Cousin, and it is STUNNING. The website photos don't do it justice. The drum tanned leather has a lovely grain, and the burned in pattern is so well done. I love that the spine and back are also patterned; it feels so good in the hand. I'm so pleased I just ordered a card holder for my son! :) Thank you, Oberon Design!

    Exquisite!

    I have had an Oberon journal for a number of years and consider it a cherished friend. I bought the journal pictured above for a young friend who grew up as a Celtic dancer and majored in creative writing. She seemed delighted with the gift.

    Notebook

    Bold Celtic Journal in Green and Black

    I'm thrilled with this beautifully crafted journal for writing and light sketching. The leather cover's design and colors are gorgeous. If you do mixed-media work, you might want to replace the blank book that is provided with a sketchbook for that purpose (that is, one with heavyweight paper). It's easy to swap out the books.

    Best quality

    I have had one of your journals since 1994. It was a gift one that I have cherished. It ooses with quality, and beauty. I recently bought two more and was pleased to learn that the quality of you product is still of the best quality of any product I have. I plan to purchase another, one of the larger size as well as a messenger bag. Love these journals. Never change, please.
