  • Button and Leather thong closure, hand cast in our Oberon metal casting shop.
  • Add an adhesive pen loop to your cover here
Journals - Large 6 x 9 inches or Small 5 x 6.875 inches
  • Book Insert included: blank, hardbound, unlined, made with recycled, heavy bond, acid free paper with a lined template sheet for straight lined writing. Simply place the template behind the page as you write. The bold lines show through just enough.
  • Book Insert size: Large 5.5 x 8.5 inches with 208 pages / Small 4.25 x 6.25 inches with 220 pages
  • Weight with book in cover:Large 1.6 lb / Small .80 lb.
  • Large Journal is a great fit for standard A5 size notebook fillers. (*A5 standard international paper size – 5.8 x 8.3 inches / 148 x 210 mm. *Dimensions vary slightly between "standard" A5 notebooks. A notebook that is similar to these dimensions will work, just make sure that the spine isn't too deep (7/8 inch or less).

Large Notebook Covers vs Large Journals. What is the difference?

Our full grain custom tanned domestic bullhide is drum dyed for a rich saturated color. It has a medium firm temper which will get soft and supple with use, while still keeping it's structured shape.

Small healed scars, bites and stretch marks may be visible and are evidence of the life of the cow. These perfect imperfections are part of what makes your leather piece unique and beautiful.

Please note, variations in lighting, photography, screen settings and dye lots do occur. These photos are representative only and may not exactly match what you will see in real life. Please make your color choice with a generous spirit. - Curious or particular about colors? We recommend ordering a Leather Color Sample Swatch Set.

Our handmade leather products are made right here in our studio workshop when you place your order.
Normal production time for a Leather Cover is 3-5 weekdays (more time may be needed for personalized orders or during the height of the holiday season).

    The most powerful gift

    I feel so good giving this beautiful gift, I received one myself and this Christmas I bought three for people I love. One said she never journaled before and is using it all the time helping her process a very emotional time in her life. One I gave to a poet and she loves it more poems to come. The last person has been quiet about what’s inside but she thought it a beautiful piece as did her eleven year old son. The quality is impeccable the detail amazing. I am very pleased with the work and proud of the gifts I’ve given. Hopefully yall make replacement papers to refill once the pages have been used. I was blessed when someone gave me one and hope I’ve blessed others with your wonderful craftsmanship. Thank you

    The forest

    Beautiful view of a forest reminds me of the birds that live and sing there. It reminds me of the leaves that live and sing with the breeze there. I am reminded of the history and events that forests have witnessed long before and long after our existence. I wish they could tell us their stories. I will use this journal to write my stories for my children and grandchildren.

    A gift for my best friend

    I was looking for the perfect gift for a friend who just received her Masters degree. She loves to write and I thought your journal would make the perfect gift. I have one my daughter gave me years ago and I still love it! Well, it was the best fit- my friend LOVES it and I’m so happy I thought of it! Hope she gets as many years of enjoyment from her new journal as iI do from mine!

    What beautiful quality!

    This was the perfect gift for a journal keeping friend starting a new phase in life. The smaller size is perfect for taking everywhere and it’s refillable. Oberon quality is outstanding … I have owned an Oberon calendar book since purchasing one in California in the 1970’s..it still looks beautiful and gets compliments :)

    Gorgeous and high quality

    This is the second journal I've purchased over the years - this one was a gift for my husband. The journal I purchased years ago for myself is still in excellent condition, though I use it often. This journal is a gorgeous, high quality lifetime piece. I highly recommend these journals.

    Stunning Handmade Journal

    This is one of the most beautifully made products I have ever purchased. The craftsmanship is exceptional, plus the design on the front is truly a work of art. The beauty and construction of this journal far exceeded my expectations, and if is a wonder to behold. In addition, the handmade sterling silver leaf on the front, which is inserted to hold the closure, adds extra elegance and beauty to the entire design. The artists who create these journals should be commended! If you are looking for an extra special gift, either for a loved one or for yourself, then this is well worth the money spent. You will not be disappointed and it will be cherished for many years to come. Truly a unique and beautiful creation! Highly recommended!

    Pictures don't do it justice

    I LOVE MY JOURNAL! It arrived quickly and the online pictures don't do it justice. The only thing I would like to see is either the lined page to have darker lines or for the journal inserts to have the option to be lined. This will not be my only purchase from Oberon

    Guaranteed gift

    Well crafted (looks like it'll outlive me) though the fern didn't reproduce accurately on the laptop - your color is actually a couple of shades darker. I'm not sure if there's anything to be done about that.

    GORGEOUS!

    always hard to tell exactly what something looks & feels like online so im always anxious when i order something like this. it looked so nice online i had to give it a shot. when it came i was thrilled, it was nicer than i had ever imagined. i would not hesitate to order other items!

    Perfect journal! Just one small thing...

    The journal is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. I am certain that I will have many years of joy with this lovely, and unique, piece. The only thing missing was the lined sheet to use for lining up my journaling. I wish it had been included because I normally use lined paper and am not a fan of lines that aren’t straight. That’s the only reason I have it four stars instead of five. The journal itself is five stars and luxury for miles.

    These journals are of the highest quality. I was given one as a gift about 10 years ago and it is one of my prized possessions and still in beautiful condition. Just bought one for each of two special friends. Wonderful customer service and quick shipping!
